2. Hosting and server logs

This website is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA, and served from data centres in the European Union. When you visit the site, technically necessary data (IP address, time, requested URL, browser) is processed in server logs to deliver the pages and keep the service secure. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Vercel processes this data on our behalf under a data processing agreement with the EU standard contractual clauses. [Confirm region and DPA reference.]

3. Cookies and analytics

This website sets no cookies for analytics or advertising. To understand which pages are read, we use Vercel Web Analytics, a privacy-friendly service of the hosting provider named above. It records page views, the referring page, the country, the browser and device type. It does not use cookies and does not store IP addresses; visitors are told apart only by a hash that changes daily and cannot be traced back to a person. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR – our interest in knowing which content is useful. Nothing is collected on the editorial backend. You can switch the analytics off for your browser at any time, here or in the notice at the bottom of the page. Some articles embed YouTube videos: until you press play only a preview image served from our own server is shown; the player then loads from youtube-nocookie.com, and from that moment Google’s privacy policy applies. Should we ever add advertising or services that need consent, we will ask first.

4. Fonts

All fonts are served from our own server. No connection is made to Google Fonts or other third parties.

5. Affiliate links

Links to partner shops go through an internal redirect. We only store the time of the click and the page it came from – no IP address, no device information. Which data the respective shop processes after the redirect is described in its own privacy policy. [Add Amazon Associates / Awin.]

6. Newsletter

When you sign up we store your email address and the time of sign-up. Delivery starts only after confirmation (double opt-in). You can unsubscribe at any time. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR. [Add delivery provider.]

7. Reader accounts

If you create an account we store your email address, a salted hash of your password (never the password itself), an optional display name, the articles you save and the folders you create, plus session identifiers so you stay signed in. This data is used only to provide the account. You can delete the account and all of this data yourself under Settings. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR.

8. Your rights

Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, objection and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 15–21, 77 GDPR).
