Sarama

สะระหม่า · sa-ra-ma

In Thai stadiums the band sits ringside and plays throughout. The musicians follow the fight: a slow, ceremonial tempo for the ritual, a steady rhythm in the early rounds and an insistent, faster beat when the fighters exchange in rounds three and four. Fighters say the music drives the pace; it is one reason Muay Thai rounds feel different from kickboxing rounds.
